Travel to the Symposium
Tromsø is easy to reach by plane as it has an airport only 5 km from the city center. Flying time from Oslo is approximately 2 h and several companies fly to Tromsø daily.
From the airport to the meeting venue, you have two options by bus:
Local bus line 42 brings you in 10 min from the airport to the city center. At the airport the bus stop “Tromsø lufthavn” is located here and in the city center the bus stop “Nerstranda” (here) is only 200 m from the meeting venue (Clarion Hotel The Edge). You can check the bus schedule here and buy bus tickets in the app “Troms Billett” (here in Google Play, here in App Store).
The Airport bus runs between the airport and the city center and stops at several hotels in Tromsø. Find the schedule here. Tickets can be pre-booked online here.
Besides buses, taxis are available. The taxi rank can be found in front of the airport or taxis can be booked here.
Alternative ways of traveling to Tromsø take some time as Tromsø has no railway station. However, traveling overland is definitely an exciting adventure! =)
The first step to reach Tromsø overland is to go to Narvik. You can either take the Swedish train to Narvik (tickets here) or take the Norwegian train to Fauske (tickets here), and then continue by bus further north to Narvik (schedule here).
From Narvik to Tromsø, the bus takes another 4 hours. It runs 2-4 times daily and the schedule is available here. Tickets can be bought in the app “Troms Billett”. Go off the bus at “Tromsø Prostneset”, 100 m from the meeting venue.
